I hope everyone's backed up all their online material by now...

I'm censoring my LJ, in protest of a bill that gives any corporation and the US government the power to censor the internet--a bill that could pass THIS WEEK. To see the uncensored text, and to stop internet censorship, visit: http://americancensorship.org/posts/8621/uncensor

Is anyone else as excited for this as I am? And I'm not just talking the nekkidness of the picture. :D

Just came from a holiday parade where I one) watched very little of the actual parade because I stayed inside the restaurant where we met for dinner beforehand, because two) I totally was indulging in baby time with Godbaby #2. I was going to upload a snap I got of him smiling on my camera, but Lj is being a bitch so maybe later. He was so playful tonight! So much fun.

Anyone want to do my Christmas shopping for me? I'm like wayyyyyyyyyy behind on it. I've bought two things so far, both online from Cyber Monday. Why? Because I suck at getting gifts this year for some reason. It would be so much easier if I could get everyone I know a bottle of wine and be done with it. *sigh*

On another note, if anyone would like a Christmas card, leave me your address in a screened comment below! I found some cute ones I like, and since I already told my family I'm not sending them this year, you all get them instead. Let me know if I should use real name only, or real and Lj.

Who am I kidding, I'll still send cards to family, I bought like 50 of them. Hahaha! :D

Does anyone have an Etsy shop with cute gift ideas I could shop at? I have some money I've been saving in my PayPal account for Christmas, and my siblings and I all exchange gifts in the $5-$10 range. I'd rather buy local/small business than at a big box if I can help it.

Pimp your stuff or your friends stuff; let me send you my money! :D

Thanksies!!!

Bradley and Colin have been playing dress up this morning. As expected, Colin couldn't decide what to wear and has left his clothes strewn about. Bradley thinks it's adorable and perfectly "Colin."

:D

Play Merthur and Brolin dress up here courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] lil_lollypop36. This is the bestest fun ever! And mind, I had to force them to put pants on. They were both rascally little buggers that were all "no, I don't wanna!" lol!!

I'll probably keep posting publicly on why this is a Bad Move if they go through with this. Everyone who isn't a U.S. citizen, please be aware this will probably fuck you over, too, if they get away with it. ~ De

Website Blocking

The government can order service providers to block websites for infringing links posted by any users.

Risk of Jail for Ordinary Users

It becomes a felony with a potential 5 year sentence to stream a copyrighted work that would cost more than $2,500 to license, even if you are a totally noncommercial user, e.g. singing a pop song on Facebook.

Chaos for the Internet

Thousands of sites that are legal under the DMCA would face new legal threats. People trying to keep the internet more secure wouldn't be able to rely on the integrity of the DNS system.

Read this analysis from boing-boing.net

Get on the phone and call your representative. Express your disapproval. Tell him or her exactly how you feel, and that you don't support this. Tell your friends to call their representatives, their Congressperson, and complain. Mention that you are a registered voter that takes your civic responsibility seriously and that you will use that vote to express your feelings about this.

http://www.rollcall.com/issues/57_60/Internet-Companies-Boost-Hill-Lobbying-210345-1.html?pos=olobh

“We support the bill’s stated goals — providing additional enforcement tools to combat foreign ‘rogue’ websites that are dedicated to copyright infringement or counterfeiting,” the Internet companies wrote in Tuesday’s letter. “Unfortunately, the bills as drafted would expose law-abiding U.S. Internet and technology companies to new uncertain liabilities, private rights of action and technology mandates that would require monitoring of websites.”  The chamber-led coalition in support of the bill includes Walmart, Eli Lilly & Co. and Netflix.

Google and other opponents of the legislation argue that restricting the Internet in the U.S. sets a bad international precedent and that the language defines infringing too broadly.

Folks, I know you're tired of me yelling at you, but you should be aware that there's a hearing this morning being held by the US House Judiciary Committee on a "copyright" bill that will essentially break the entire internet.

You like the internet, right? I mean, you're here.

From the link above:

As drafted, the legislation would grant the government and private parties unprecedented power to interfere with the Internet's domain name system (DNS). The government would be able to force ISPs and search engines to redirect or dump users' attempts to reach certain websites' URLs. In response, third parties will woo average users to alternative servers that offer access to the entire Internet (not just the newly censored U.S. version), which will create new computer security vulnerabilities as the reliability and universality of the DNS evaporates.

It gets worse: Under SOPA's provisions, service providers (including hosting services) would be under new pressure to monitor and police their users’ activities. While PROTECT-IP targeted sites “dedicated to infringing activities,” SOPA targets websites that simply don’t do enough to track and police infringement (and it is not at all clear what would be enough). And it creates new powers to shut down folks who provide tools to help users get access to the Internet the rest of the world sees (not just the “U.S. authorized version”).

This is being framed as an attempt to fight hackers and pirates. Don't buy it. And don't think for a minute that it's going to stop there. This is bad. And at the hearing today, only one opponent of the bill is being allowed to testify.

Please do whatever you can to fight this. Email congresspeople. Sign petitions. Yell about it in every venue you can.

Because my community rocks. :D

Here's a photo of one of the downed trees from last weeks storm. I now have a portion of it on my deck that I am using as a stool come flower pot holder thing. I know, kinda white trashy, but I don't care. It's still my house, I can do what I want. :D

Good photos of my garden are coming soon.  To give you an idea of before/after, here's a photo (stolen from Hubs Facebook of what the garden looked like right after we got the beds completely made and just planted everything. You can kinda sorta see the cages and trellis if you know where to look for them, but that's about it. Most of the plants were just little baby seeds at this point.  You can also see the beginning milkweed plants coming in on the far side. We has butterfly's and don't want to take away their food source.  The far right of the garden is transplanted lily's, a rose bush, and hollyhocks. One of the lily's just started blooming yesterday so I'll try and get pics tonight. It's gorgeous! Next year we're going to move all of them out of the garden and in to other beds we just made this summer. I'm excited. :)

I would be lying if I said I didn't have the best flist in the world. You guys ROCK MY SOCKS OFF! First you inundate me with Kisses and now chocolate men?!

Did I die?

Is this heaven?

Thanks so much [livejournal.com profile] enchanted_jae , [livejournal.com profile] flamingolady , [livejournal.com profile] protowilson , [livejournal.com profile] faithwood , [livejournal.com profile] kate0404 , [livejournal.com profile] khasael , [livejournal.com profile] alisanne , [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 , and [livejournal.com profile] nursedarry  for bringing this fantastically chocolate orgy of men in to my life. :D
lilyginny27: (Luke)
First, many many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nursedarry for the noms. How did you know I needed a chocolate fix desperately?! *squishes you*

And Oh. My. God. Two months of free paid time!

Based on my flist, I'm not the only one who's been graced with this awesomeness today so either

1) Someone loves us and we must all scour our lists and use the process of elimination so we can narrow it down to whomever did it so we may glomp them properly

or,

2) there's credence to that rumor floating around where if you send/receive so many v-gifts, you get free time. This is when I'm guessing maybe all those kisses we sent last week were chock full of more pleasure than we could possibly imagine!!!! :D

Happy Tuesday!!!!!
